Election Update

To all members,
Although it may, at this point, seem distant, October of 2012 is quickly approaching. It will be the time for the annual workshop, business meeting and elections for the Arizona State Assembly of Surgical Technologists (AZSA).
We encourage active members to join in the workshop, and to consider running for a position within the Assembly. This year, we are electing a Secretary and three Board of Director members.
Please be certain to have your AST membership card with you. It will be required for voting.
Should you consider running for election, the following duties and parameters MUST be met:
Secretary: (two year term)
Duties:
1. The Secretary shall maintain a record of the proceedings of the Board of Directors, all state meetings and the annual meeting
2. He/she shall forward to the President for distribution to the appropriate committees, all pertinent materials in abstract or excerpted form, whichever is better suited to the situation.
3. At the meetings, she/he shall have a copy of the state bylaws, state policy and a copy of “Robert’s Rules of Order” available for reference.
4. She/he shall perform other duties pertaining to her/his office or as delegated to her/him by the President or Board of Directors. One duty will be formulation of the annual newsletter.
5. Other duties are relevant to the position and these can be furnished to interested parties upon request.
(A candidate must be an active member for one year immediately preceding nomination and, if elected, shall maintain that active status. Candidate must also submit a “Curriculum Vita” and an “Intent to Serve”). Nominee must also be a member of the State Assembly for a period of one year prior to the nomination.
Board of Director: (two year term)

4. Review all committee reports and determination the actions, which need to be taken.
5. Fulfill any other duties as specified in the Bylaws.
6. Other duties are relevant to the position and these can be furnished to interested parties upon request.
(A candidate must be an active member for one year immediately preceding nomination and, if elected, shall maintain that active status. Candidate must also submit a “Curriculum Vita” and an “Intent to Serve”)
We ask that you consider the option of availing yourself to these positions. Without help form the members, we cannot succeed. Please remember that the person before you probably had no idea of what was expected either, but they stepped in and, with help and support, were able to fulfill the roles as required.
