At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to describe 6 procedures using robotics, prioritize procedures for the critical care patient, and describe the steps in assembling a Taylor spatial frame.
For those traveling from out of town, see our website for information on the Comfort Suites. Registratino deadline there is September 22 for the AZSA rate. Two people in each room is only $42.50 each, three people sharing a room comes to 29.00 each. And please get your registrations in as soon as possible for the workshop. We need an accurate count to plan our lunch.
Don't for get to bring you AST membership card and your NBSTSA card to the workshop. We need to identify voting members, and also check credentials if you are planning to run for office.
And why not run for office? Let us teach you the ropes, then volunteer to serve on a committee. We need members to call on our educational programs, someone to write for the website, volunteers to raise funds, members to locate next year's workshop site and begin lining up speakers, members to assist with career fairs. None of what we offer to our membership can be accomplished without volunteers. Did you know that employers are impressed with your contributions to your community? Some even give points on your merit evaluations. Think what you can contribute to our state assembly. Then contact any officer listed on our website www.azsa-ast.org and ask for a consent to serve form.
Let's go, Team!

SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST WEEK
SEPTEMBER 19-25, 2010
Each year, National Surgical Technologist Week is an opportunity to promote the profession and educate the community about the vital role that surgical technologists play in the OR.
Do all staff members at your facility know how important you are to surgeons - and, especially, to patients?
Do they know how much education and training is required of surgical technologists?
Do your neighbors actually understand what you do for a living?
Does your community know who's behind those masks in the O.R.?
Now's your chance to show them!
Hang up posters.
Throw a party.
Organize an educational open house.
Ask your hospital newsletter staff to write an article about the surgical techs at your facility.
Each year, we hear about so many great ways that AST members are promoting this profession, including:
Organizing blood drives
Advertising in their local newspapers
Sending event announcements to their local newspapers - some of the papers have even written in-depth articles about the profession!
The sky's the limit!
